Hi, I’m Steffy McCourt.

I’m an English teacher, writer, and lifelong learner who believes great teaching should be effective, engaging, and sustainable. After more than two decades in education, I’ve learned that teachers don’t need more complicated systems. They need practical tools that save time, support students, and make the work feel manageable.

Throughout my career, I’ve taught middle school and high school English, served as an English department chair, worked as a Teacher on Special Assignment, and led professional learning for educators. Along the way, I’ve created lessons, assessments, discussion systems, writing resources, and classroom routines that help students think deeply while helping teachers work more efficiently.

The Efficient English Teacher was created to share those ideas. Here, teachers will find classroom-tested resources, practical strategies, technology tips, discussion frameworks, writing activities, reading routines, and AI tools designed to support real classrooms. Everything is built with busy teachers in mind.

When I’m not teaching, I’m also a published writer whose work has appeared in educational, parenting, and travel publications across the country. Writing has always been one of my passions, and I love helping students and teachers discover the power of reading, writing, and storytelling.

Most importantly, I’m a teacher who understands the realities of the classroom. My goal is to provide resources that are useful, realistic, and easy to implement so educators can spend less time reinventing the wheel and more time connecting with students.
